Strässler kits for nutmeg mills, salt mills, pepper mills and caraway mills
Strässler specialises in precision mechanics and has many years of experience in the manufacture of grinders. The name Strässler has been synonymous with quality ever since the precise kits for pepper grinders first left the Swiss production halls in 1957.
After the time-honoured pepper grinder, the Swiss manufacturer has made a real name for itself among wood turners with other grinders. The partially coated, hardened grinders made of stainless steel are characterised by their durability, precision and reliability. All kits give a very high-quality impression, which proves to be true after the first use at the latest.
The kit for pepper mills for turning
The classic, the pepper mill. A kit equipped with a hardened conical grinder. The guarantee for the longevity of the grinding mechanism.
The kit for turned nutmeg mills
The nutmeg grinder is as simple as it is ingenious. Its specially shaped disc with sharp-edged slots makes it possible to grind the entire nutmeg into a fine powder. The kit is made of stainless steel. You have the choice of building the mill so that the nutmeg is inserted via an opening on the side or via a screw connection on the top of the mill.
The kit for salt mills made from turned wood
The conical grinding mechanism with a special coating of TiN - titanium nitride - makes the grinding mechanism particularly resistant to the corrosion caused by salt.
The kit for making a caraway mill
The latest grinder kit from Strässler. The grinder, which is primarily designed to grind caraway seeds, is reminiscent of the classic cone grinder in the pepper mill kit. However, this grinder is equipped with special grooves that guide the caraway seeds through the mechanism smoothly and without clogging. The grinder is also suitable for cumin, aniseed, fennel seeds or other spice mixtures.
Production of the grinders
The mills are easy to make thanks to the excellent kits. However, be sure to use the instructions that you will find on the respective product pages. With their help, it should be easy for you to make the grinders.
You are also free to choose the size of your turned mill. To do this, simply select the appropriate length of shaft to drive the grinder in the online shop.
Only use types of wood that are suitable for use with food. You will also need (Forstner) drill bits to make the socket for the grinder. The manufacturer WoodCut also offers the "MillDrill" milling cutter specially designed for grinders. Its individually adjustable blades allow you to drill a wide variety of holes in the wooden body of the grinder.
Mill cap with plug-in connection or for screwing on
The kits for making mills for pepper, salt and caraway are available in two different versions. Either with a classic screw connection for the lid, or with a special insert that makes it possible to simply push the lid on.
