Sooner or later, there is no way round a good sharpening machine. Because while a file promises a quick remedy in between, you cannot re-sharpen a completely blunt blade with it. If you want to precisely re-sharpen the edge of your iron, you need a suitable device. We offer various models of sharpening systems that will help you in any workshop.
Are you looking for an inexpensive, yet solid model that will help you with your hobby projects? Then the Record Power WG 250 wet grinder, for example, is a good choice. In a professional workshop, however, it is also worth investing in a high-priced sharpening system and accessories. This is because they make your everyday life in the woodturning workshop easier and enable fast and gentle sharpening. We offer various sharpening systems here:
Our sharpening systems in comparison
- KS DML 200N double grinder: Slow speed, designed both for sharpening and resharpening woodturning knives. The system for woodturners!
- Tormek wet grinder: Very good sharpening system, popular not only with woodturners, but also with cooks, carvers and many others. However, only suitable for resharpening to a limited extent
- Robert Sorby Pro Edge belt sander: Belt sander, excellent jigs, can be fitted with different sanding belts and is therefore suitable for all sharpening and resharpening work.
While the other machines are generally designed for sharpening
tools (e.g. axes or kitchen knives), we have designed our own KS
sharpening system specifically for woodturners. Operation is
intuitive and you can resharpen any sharpening in just a few simple
steps: from conventional chisels and tubes to fingernail
sharpening, everything is no problem. See for yourself and order
from us today!
Accessories for sharpening woodturning knives
In addition to our complete variants, you will also find supplementary systems at Drechselbedarf Schulte if you already own a sharpening device. This is the Wolverine sharpening system, for example. With the basic set, you can turn any double grinder into a sharpening station for woodturning knives. Tormek also offers the BGM-11 mounting kit, which allows you to mount Tormek sharpening aids on any sharpening system.
We also stock various grinding discs. On the one hand, you can use these if your stone is worn out. On the other hand, your machine can be further upgraded with high-quality CBN variants. Depending on the device, you will find the right discs with the right diameter and the corresponding adapter for your wet grinder or sanding block.
In addition to these clever accessories, you can also find other valuable parts for everyday woodturning in our woodturning supplies. Diamond files, for example, are suitable for resharpening blades several times before you need to go to the sharpener. Depending on the iron, we also have the right models here: from the classic straight honing files to round variants, for example for the hook or the Crown round bar iron. Discover our wide range now, rounded off with angle gauges, sharpening templates and cleaning agents.
Sharpening systems at Drechselbedarf Schulte
In addition to the woodturning machine itself and a set of irons, one thing should not be missing in the workshop: a high-quality sharpening system. This is what makes clean surfaces and successful woodturning possible. Generally speaking, woodturning knives need to be sharpened every five to 15 minutes - depending on the quality of the woodturning knives and the type of material. So invest in the right sharpening system in good time. Not quite sure which one to choose? Then please contact us and we will be happy to advise you in detail!
