Polishes
Polishes with an abrasive component can replace or supplement abrasives on cloth backing (e.g. abrasive cloth), abrasive fleece, etc. They are applied to the stationary workpiece and rubbed in. The polishes are then used as a primer and abrasive by rotating the workpiece.
Friction polishes form the final stage of the surface treatment. These are also applied to the workpiece and then polished. The pressure applied to the workpiece and the rotation of the machine generate heat. This activates the polish, which creates the lustre.
