In this category you will find a wide variety of clamping discs for the most diverse tasks that you will encounter in everyday woodturning. Face plates, for example, can be used to securely fasten large, unbalanced wooden blanks to the spindle with screws. Face plate segments, on the other hand, help to cleanly turn a bowl base. ... more...Which clamping discs are available?
In our range you will find many different face and clamping discs that are suitable for different turning tasks. In the following, we will explain the respective variants and their application so that you can always make the best choice.
Face plates
Face plates are basically round plates that can be screwed
directly onto the spindle. The disc has several drill holes so that
you can screw a piece of wood to it and thus securely fasten blanks
to the lathe.
Our in-house KS faceplate with M33 thread also has an anti-run-off
groove and two anti-run-off screws. These ensure that the faceplate
always sits securely on the workbench.
Face plate segments
In addition to the typical clamping jaws, every chuck manufacturer also offers face plate segments. Face plate segments consist of four parts that can be mounted on the chuck. Rubber knobs are mounted on these four segments, which can be used to easily clamp a workpiece.
These special clamping discs are always used when workpieces that are already almost completely turned need to be finished. For example, you can turn the base of a bowl. As the workpiece is often only held by the knobs, care must be taken when turning. You should never work faster than 600 rpm.
LSC Self-centring clamping discs
This clamping disc works in the same way as the faceplate segments mentioned above. The difference - and also the decisive advantage - is that you do not have to adjust the knobs individually to the size of the workpiece.
Instead, the clamping size can be set simply by turning the two discs. You can easily clamp the clamping disc in 50 mm standard clamping jaws. This simplified insertion also eliminates the need to mount and dismount the segments - practical and time-saving!
Face disc rings
Face plate rings are another option for mounting unbalanced workpieces on the lathe. The ring is screwed onto the wood using the drill holes. To make the process easier, we offer them with different fitting moulds for clamping jaws.
For example, you can quickly mount the rings on 100 mm clamping jaws and remove them again. An effect that also makes it possible to attach useful tools for wood turning.
