The classic shaped tube is the tool for most woodturning jobs. Due to the slightly round forged shape of the steel and the flat flute, which is supplied with our KS fingernail grind, this turning knife is probably the best tool for turning pronounced and beautifully profiled throats and round bars and other shapes, such as curves or "Karniese".
This tool can be used to turn the profiles of chair legs, balusters or staircase rungs and the like. The tube is also ideal for turning smaller workpieces. For example, spinning tops, egg cups, goblets, can exteriors and all other long woodwork are no problem.
The shaping tube is only recommended for turning long wood shapes. The long flanks can quickly jam in the wood when turning crosspieces.
Smaller to medium-sized square blanks can also be shaped into a cylindrical form using the shaping tube.

The 12 mm tube is suitable for fine miniature turning work.
Cryo steel from CROWN
Cryo steel is used for woodturning knives and tools that have to meet the highest demands. Cryo woodturning knives are therefore ideal for working with very soft and hard woods.
The term "Cryo" (cryogenics) refers to a complex technical process. High-speed steel - HSS - is cooled to minus 185° under computer control. This process gives cryogenic steel its uniquely fine, tough-elastic structure with special properties. This not only increases the service life, which doubles the service life of the sharpened cutting edge of the turning knife. It also results in a significantly sharper cutting edge. The Cryo process allows the steel to be ground more easily, making the burr on the cutting edge much finer, which is what makes the high degree of sharpness of Cryo woodturning knives possible in the first place. Woodturning knives made from CRYO steel combine excellent sharpness and a long service life, which makes them extremely popular for woodturning.
