The most common thread for woodturning machines in Germany is the M33 x 3.5 mm, the most common cone is the MK2. In line with the standard, all our KS woodturning machines are also equipped with this. The same applies to all chucks and centre punches as well as 4-prong drivers that we offer in our shop. Your lathe does not have an M33 thread, but you would like to use a chuck with an M33 thread? Then you need an adapter with an M33 external thread. We have these adapters available with the following spindle threads:
- Internal 1" 8tpi
- Inside ¾" 16 tpi
- Inside M18 x 1.5 mm
- Inside M18 x 2.5 mm
- Inside M20 x 1.5 mm

Adapting a chuck without an M33 x 3.5 mm thread to an M33 x 3.5 mm spindle
The reverse is the case if you have an M33 x 3.5 mm threaded spindle, but the chuck is equipped with a different thread. In this case, you will need an adapter with an M33 internal thread. We have the following adapters for common variants available for you:
- External 1" 8tpi
- External ½" 20 UNF drill chuck thread
- Outer ¾" 16tpi
- External M20 x 1.5 mm
Adapt Morse taper for centre punch or 4-prong driver with reducing sleeve
If you want to adapt a 4-prong centre punch or a rotating centre punch, you will need a reducing sleeve. This is the case, for example, if your spindle has a Mk3 taper and you want to use an MK2 centre sleeve. We can offer the following reducing sleeve:
- MK3 to MK2
- MK2 to MK1
Extension sleeves and extension adapters
For various reasons, it may be necessary to extend your own MK2 cone or M33 spindle. For example, do you want to re-turn the base of a deep bowl and the edge of the bowl touches the spindle head when turning? If you need more distance from the tailstock when turning, an MK2 extension sleeve can also help. Then an M33 extension adapter can help.
